COMMERCIAL MANAGER
1. STRATEGIC ROLE:
1.1 Responsible for Business Profitability and Trade Working
Capital are in line with ENP growth target.
1.2 Ensuring the operations comply with local and US
accounting standards and Emerson corporate policies and procedures.
1.3 Take an active role in the continuous improvement of the
processes and operations through initiating and participating in
formal and informal improvement programs.
1.4 Responsible for ensuring all necessary controls are in
place to safeguard the business and physical assets of the company and
that use of such assets is optimized.
1.5 Risk Management for the business.
1.6 Take an active role as a member of the Management Teams
and provide input into business strategies.
2. ACCOUNTABILITIES
2.1 To ensure accurate and timely financial and management
reports and forecasts are produced for the local and regional
management.
2.2 To ensure that financial planning, asset management and
cost control is implemented within the division.
2.3 To review and conduct financial analysis and interpret
financial reports and highlight matters requiring attention of the
management team.
2.4 Organize and co-ordinate the monthly/quarterly/annual
forecasting exercises in accordance with the requirements of Emerson.
2.5 Ensure targets set for asset management are met – DSO,
DPO and Inventory Turns.
2.6 Safeguard the assets of the Company including Debtors,
Inventory, Cash and Capital.
2.7 To ensure all local and US legal and statutory
requirements are being met and that they operate in compliance with
Emerson Corporate Policies & Procedures.
3. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
3.1 Ensure that the periodic (weekly, monthly and annual)
reports and information (eg. SOC, Financial Statements, PORs, Budget,
Exhibits) are accurate and submitted in a timely manner to the
necessary people in the regional office / HQ, as required and
reports/presentations are produced as necessary.
3.2 Ensure that credit management infrastructure is able to
support the business environment and yet can meet Emerson corporate
expectations.
3.3 Ensure that the asset management (DSO, DPO & ITO) targets
and working capital targets set for each fiscal year are achieved /
exceeded.
3.4 Ensure that the financial matters that can affect the
company (eg: forex, cash flow, current and fixed deposits in banks)
are properly managed
3.5 Review and submission of monthly/quarterly forecasts and
financial statements to local management and regional office.
3.6 Continuously monitor the profitability, sales, revenues
and operating expenses of the division in accordance with the rolling
forecast.
3.7 Collect, analyze, interpret and evaluate information
regarding operating results and propose and recommend actions to
improve the company's financial performance.
3.8 Responsible for coordination of ENP financial planning
and control based on the requirements of Senior Management Team and
Emerson Corporate.
3.9 Take an active role in the management of projects from
the initial bidding through to closing on the business that the
company undertakes.
3.10 Liaising with Tax agents, Auditors, Company Secretary and
other statutory and regulatory bodies with regard to statutory
requirements.
3.11 Liaising with Bankers and ensuring that the banking
facilities are maintained such that the business will continue to run
smoothly whilst control over authorization is maintained.
3.12 Monitoring of the preparation of application for Banker
Guarantees for projects that require tender fees and/or performance
bonds.
3.13 Liaising with insurance brokers for all related matters.
3.14 Working with the Regional Logistics Director and the
logistics function to manage inventory and organize and conduct the
Annual Physical Stock Take.
4. QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
4.1 Degree in Accounting / Business. Qualified Accountant.
4.2 Trading and service environment exposure, information
technology, accounting software, inventory control, accounts
receivable control.
4.3 More than 5 years satisfactory practical accounting
experience with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
4.4 Written and spoken – English
4.5 Microsoft Office, Good command in Excel. Knowledge of
computerized Accounting software.

5.2 BUSINESS COMPETENCE
5.2.1 Excellent spoken and written skills both in English and
Bahasa Malaysia.
5.2.2 Good rapport with internal and external customers.
5.2.3 Understand the business operation of the company.
5.3 PROFESSIONAL / TECHNICAL COMPETENCE
5.3.1 Knowledgeable in standard accounting practices and
management accounting.
5.3.2 Familiar with the operations and workflows of Finance Division.
5.3.3 Computer literate – able to handle IS/IT applications.
